PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Fresh questions have been raised about Tony Blair's links with Rupert Murdoch after it emerged he is godfather to one of the media mogul's young children.
The former prime minister was present when Mr Murdoch's two daughters were baptised on the banks of the river Jordan last year.
The information emerged in a Vogue magazine interview with the News Corporation boss's third wife Wendi, the mother of nine-year-old Grace and Chloe, eight.
At the time of the ceremony, Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were named publicly as godparents to the youngsters. Mr Blair did not feature in photographs that were released.
While Mrs Murdoch does not mention the ex-premier directly, the article identifies him as Grace's godfather and says he attended the event "garbed in white". He is described as one of Mr Murdoch's "closest friends".
Sources confirmed that the account in the magazine was accurate. Mr Blair's spokesman declined to comment.
