H0-Ho-Ho: Drivers Enjoy Splashing Pedestrians, Survey Finds

Drivers enjoying deliberately splashing people with their cars in heavy rain, a survey has found.

Almost 40% of people admitted to laughing when they saw a driver soaking somebody, and 16% said they had done it themselves.

In even more negative signs for the country's collective conscience, only 12% of those who had splashed people said they had stopped to apologise.

Only 44% of people said that they thought splashing people was illegal. They are of course wrong - drivers can be prosecuted under the 1988 Road Traffic Act for deliberately aggressive behaviour, including splashing.

Not all of us are mean-spirited wannabe rally drivers, however.

Of 2,000 drivers questioned by webuyanycar.com, more than half (55%) said they had gone out of their way to avoid driving through puddles to splash people.

In any case the thousands of views for YouTube videos of cars splashing pedestrians suggests that quite a few of that 55% don't mind chuckling at the misery of pavement dwellers from the safety of the Internet.

We've collected a few of those below. But remember - don't laugh.
