A theme park has had to take "drastic measures" after dummies tested on a new rollercoaster were "alarmingly" damaged, some even returning with missing limbs.
Thorpe Park officials in Surrey said the dummies had experienced a "terrifyingly close call" - less than two months before the launch of the ride.
On the ride's return, officials discovered a number of dummies were left "visibly damaged" after being exposed to some of the "extreme 'near miss' spots".
Divisional director at the theme park, Mike Vallis, said the resort had "pushed the boundaries to the absolute limit" because their customers "demanded" the extreme.
An emergency response team was called in to work on the ride, called "The Swarm", ahead of the park opening in March.
To allay any fears potential thrill-seekers may have, Thorpe Park insisted despite the "costly operation", which only took a week to carry out, officials are now satisfied that the ride fully complies with health and safety requirements.
