William and Kate cheered as Storey smashed the record in the heats of the C5 individual pursuit.
Then the royal couple joined the Duchess of Wessex and her daughter Lady Louise Windsor in a slow motion Mexican Wave - to the delight of a packed and noisy audience at the Velodrome.
In contrast, the Cambridges had earlier visited the Copper Box venue to watch goalball - parts of which are played in silence.
