Former 'X Factor' star Diana Vickers is turning to laughs after signing up to star in a new Sky comedy about a group of promotions girls.
Vickers, who was a semi-finalist on the 2008 series of ITV's hit singing contest, will appear in 'Give Out Girls' later this year on Sky Living.
She told The Sun's TV Biz: “I’m so excited about doing my first comedy show. It’s different from any acting I’ve done before. The script is hilarious – I was laughing my head off just reading it. The rest of the cast are great, we all have really good chemistry."
Kerry Howard of BBC3 sitcom 'Him & Her' and former 'EastEnders' actress Tracy-Ann Oberman will also star in the six-part series about a group of four girls who have to promote various products.
Vickers had a number one single in 2010 with 'Once' and now, after two years of pop silence, she's releasing 'Cinderella', which includes lines such as "I include in thunderbolts and butterflies" (it's very much a fairytale tune).
In other former 'X Factor' contestant news, star of the 2011 series Misha B has written a blog for The Huffington Post UK about attending the recent memorial service for Stephen Lawrence.
She wrote: "One thing I always saw was hope, and that's one thing that we can take from this horrible situation - the hope and the continual striving by his family to fight for justice." Read the full blog here.
