Rarely has a transfer had such a significant bearing on the destination of the Barclays Premier League trophy, and Robin van Persie's decision to choose Manchester United over City proved to be the most significant factor thanks to his 26 league goals.
The Dutchman has retained the Golden Boot award he won with Arsenal last year, finishing three ahead of Liverpool's Luis Suárez. The 29-year-old only failed to score against Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City in the league, while Liverpool, Stoke City, Arsenal, West Brom and West Ham conceded to the Dutchman at home and away.
Although he tallied four less than with the Gunners last season, a Premier League winner's medal more than compensates for another talismanic campaign.
