Samsung has shipped more than 20 million Galaxy S4 smartphones since its launch 68 days ago - but has just missed out on matching the pace of the iPhone, reports suggest.
Samsung has not confirmed the figure, but Korean news sites quoted Samsung Mobile chief JK Shin as having confirmed the number.
If true, the pace of S4 sales is a remarkable improvement on the Galaxy S3, which according to The Verge shipped just over half the same total.
It hasn't quite matched the iPhone 5, which reached 34 million shipments in 100 days, or the 4S which took 79 days to reach 32 million sales.
But either way it appears the S4 is by some distance the best selling Android phone in history.
Despite that, other reports have emerged in recent weeks that Samsung was not happy with the rate of S4 sales - and the markets have also responded with week projections for the stock price, which recently dived six percent in a single evening.
