Engineers worked throughout the night to raise the 114,000-tonne shipwreck of the Costa Concordia from rocks off the Tuscan coast.
But the time is condensed to a few minutes in this amazing time-lapse video of the salvage operation, which took 19 hours.

More than 50 huge chains and winches have been used to free the ship at painstaking speed in order to prevent damage to the hull which has been exposed to the weather since the sinking in January 2012.
