Their affair sent shock waves through Albert Square when it was revealed on Christmas Day in 2007 and now Stacey and Max Branning are to be reunited for the first time since she fled Walford.
Their fling, which ruined Stacey's marriage with Max's son Bradley and also saw the collapse of Max's relationship with Tanya, was famously exposed in a tape recording by Max's daughter Lauren.
Max and Stacey in EastEnders
Stacey, played by Lacey Turner in 'EastEnders', is in hiding at Kat and Alfie's house as she's still on the run for Archie's murder, when the pair come face to face again.
Max has known she's there but she initially refused to see him.
Stacey is set to break down in tears as Max comforts her in emotional scenes set to air on the BBC One soap on Friday.
Stacey's return to the show comes after Lacey quit 'EastEnders' three years ago.
Viewers saw her character flee the country in 2010 after being exposed as Archie Mitchell's murderer. Her previous time on the soap also included storylines about her struggle with mental illness.
Lacey said of her comeback to the soap: "I may have left 'EastEnders' over three years ago but the show has always been in my heart, as has Stacey, and she has never really left my side."
