If you study geography at university then you'll already know that it is the best subject you could possibly be doing. There is no doubt in your mind about it.
If you do not, then it has to be said sorry but you're missing out. Though you may think that your degree is the most interesting, or the most fun, or the most employable, the truth of the matter is that nothing compares to geography.
Geographers are often given a lot of stick by other students. People say that it's not a 'proper' subject and that it's basically sociology or geology. They say that geographers are only good at colouring in between the lines and for naming capital cities in pub quizzes. They say that geography is just looking at maps, mountains and rivers. They say that geography is a doss.
Well it's time to set the record straight. Except for the 'proper' subject part. To be honest, with some of the methods used in geography today that could well be true. That's not to say that it's an easy subject though!
So why is geography so good? Is it because, along with psychologists, geography students are the most employable? Is it because geography is well known for being a very sociable degree? Or is it because it is simply the most interesting?
Even Michael Palin himself has said that "geography students hold the key to the world's problems" If that isn't enough to convince you, then here are 10 other reasons why geography is far and away the best subject to study at university:
