‘Coronation Street’ newcomer Sair Khan - who has been described as 'the new Michelle Keegan' - has downplayed any similarities between herself and the former ‘Corrie’ star.
Earlier this year it was announced that Sair had joined ‘Corrie’ as Alya, the latest member in the soap’s first ever Muslim family and the daughter of Jimi Mistry’s character, Kal.

It’s previously been reported that producers are hoping the young actress will fill the void left by Michelle Keegan after she left the soap in a dramatic murder storyline earlier this month, though Sair seems less than convinced.
She told The Mirror: “I can’t think of myself like that. It’s quite weird and people wouldn’t say that if they saw me at 8 o’clock in the morning!”
It’s now been announced that Sair’s character is due to brew up a storm from the get-go, as character Gary Windass will spend the night with her behind his girlfriend Izzy’s back - unaware that she's actually his new neighbour.
However, his hopes of keeping their fling a secret are soon dashed as the next day he heads to the gym only to discover Alya is Kal’s daughter.
Sair admitted that filming their kissing scenes on her second day was a little unnerving, saying: “It was really surreal, such an odd experience. But Mikey was great and helped me out. Alya is out for a celebration with friends from university. She is out to have a good time and it is friendly and flirting and she ends up kissing Gary.
“Inevitably there are lots of twists and turns.”
Catch Sair making her 'Corrie' debut on Wednesday 25 June on ITV.
