'Dead' Filipino Toddler Who 'Awoke' At Her Own Funeral Has Been Pronounced Dead Again

A toddler who was filmed “awakening” at her own funeral has been pronounced dead once more, reports say.

Footage of the three-year-old girl being gently lifted from her coffin on Sunday in Zamboanga del Sur, the Philippines, went viral.

Police chief Heidill Teelan confirmed to the Philippine Star newspaper the little girl had been declared dead on Saturday after suffering a high fever.

The little girl was spotted moving by someone who went to examine the supposed remains

Sadly, she fell into a coma when she was taken home from the funeral and later died, claims a report on the Sydney Morning Herald.

It adds a second funeral is now being planned.

“She found no signs of life and confirmed that the child is dead. Dr Cabahug advised the kid’s parents to bury the dead body soon to prevent diseases.”

There have been several other incidences of apparently dead bodies spring back to life.

In May last year guests at a funeral in Zimbabwe were caught by surprise when 34-year-old Brighton Dama Zanthe sat up in his own coffin.

"I was the first to notice Mr. Zanthe’s moving legs as I was in the queue to view his body. At first I could not believe my eyes but later realized that there was indeed some movements on the body as other mourners retreated in disbelief," Lot Gaka, one of the mourners and Zanthe's employer, told The Herald.

Fortunately, Zanthe woke up just in time; his body was set to be transported to a funeral parlor later that day. After Zanthe "resurrected" he was taken to a local hospital, where he remained on life support for two days before eventually being released.

Bodies springing back to life is, perhaps surprisingly, not an uncommon occurrence in Zimbabwe. Earlier this year, a woman, who was believed to have collapsed and died during sex, woke up screaming after she was placed into a coffin.

In another "resurrection" in 2012, a Zimbabwe woman, suspected of being possessed, was rushed to a hospital after she stabbed herself and was allegedly declared dead, the Chronicle reports. However, she did not stay "dead" for long, as she "rose" shortly after.
