‘Emmerdale' Spoiler: Robert Sugden To Return, New Actor Ryan Hawley Cast As Andy's Troublesome Brother

Look Who's Back In The Dales...

‘Emmerdale’ fans will be getting a blast from the past in late October, when Robert Sugden returns to cause trouble in the Dales.

Robert, whose adopted brother is Andy, will be played by TV newcomer Ryan Hawley, who has shared his delight at joining the soap.

Robert's arrival probably won't please Andy and Katie

"I am absolutely over the moon to be joining the show,” he states. “Playing such an interesting character with a complicated history in the village is so much fun, especially as my family are all big ‘Emmerdale’ fans.

“I can't say much about what’s going to happen but I am delighted to be a part of it."

Robert, who was most recently portrayed by Karl Davis until 2009, has often clashed with his brother and one of their final fallouts came after Robert’s affair with Andy’s fiancé Katie.

Andy and Katie broke up shortly after, however since then, viewers have seen them rekindle their romance and begin planning their wedding.

‘Emmerdale’ Series Producer Kate Oates has teased fans with some details of Robert’s arrival, stating: “I'm delighted to welcome Ryan to the show.

“Robert is a complex character and when we were looking for someone to take over the role, Ryan had the perfect balance of charm and edge.

“Robert Sugden’s life has moved on in many ways... but those ingrained feelings - about his father, Andy, Katie, and the village where he grew up - are sure to find an explosive outlet.”
