You can get away with a few things when you're at work with a hangover - not being particularly chirpy, making regular and hurried trips to the toilet.
And now we can add to the list, publishing headlines like this...
Hmmm. We're not convinced.
This is indeed the headline that graced the website of The Daily Caller on Tuesday for a piece written by Maj. Gen. Jerry R. Curry, a retired US Army veteran outlining his hypothesis that Muslim terrorists will soon start targeting other groups "just as the Nazis did" during WWII.
He writes: "If today the civilized world, led by the United States, doesn’t stand up and speak out for Israel and the world’s Jews, when Islam comes for the Christians, and it will come, there will be no one left to speak for them."
Curry did not write the headline in question though which has been attributed to a rogue editor.
Tucker Carlson, the editor-in-chief of the conservative news site, told TPM: ""The headline didn't match the story. It was obviously nothing more than a garbled attempt.
"It was inarticulate, it was idiotic. I assume the editor was hungover, but I don't know. I literally have no idea."
The editor in question appears to have dealt with rather harshly.
Carlson said: "That headline was not written by the author of the piece, but by our editor, whom we have executed, ISIS-style, for his misdeed."
Wow.
