Catherine Tyldesley Baby Joy: ‘Coronation Street' Actress Gives Birth To Baby Boy

'Corrie' Star Catherine Gives Birth

Coronation Street’ star Catherine Tyldesley has given birth to a baby boy, she has confirmed.

The actress took to Twitter to share her happy news with fans, writing: "We made a wish and you came true. Welcome Alfie James Pitfield. We love you beyond words @TP_PTfitness #Besotted."

Her partner Tom Pitfield also tweeted the news about their son Alfie’s arrival, writing: "Welcome to the world Son. Alfie James Pitfield. @Cath_Tyldesley you made the happiest man in the world. Thank you x"

Catherine, who plays Eva Price on the ITV soap, announced she was pregnant with her first child in October. Just weeks later, Tom popped the question.

The actress had previously revealed that her ‘Corrie’ co-star Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully, and his boyfriend Peter would be her stand-in birthing partner.

Ahead of the birth, Antony said: “Me and Peter are going to be like armed guards at either side of the door when she pushed. We’re on stand-by just in case Tom faints.”

Anthony was quick to send his congratulations to Catherine, tweeting: "Finally! Welcome to the world Alfie James Pitfield! He's a bruiser @Cath_Tyldesley @TP_PTfitness xxx"

Catherine said she planned on using self-hypnosis to ease her through labour.

"One of the most important things for me as an expectant mother is lowering stress levels. Hypno birthing is much more than simply self hypnosis or hypnotherapy for childbirth.

"You discover that severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labour. Practitioners help mums to-be learn how to release the fears and anxieties we may currently have about giving birth.

"It focuses on the joy and magic of birth – rather than the horrific ordeal everyone else seems hell-bent on telling you about."
