There are prank calls and then there is this.
During a politics show on American satellite channel C-SPAN, the news anchor was taking calls about how much influence Congress should have in negotiations with Iran, when a caller identifying himself as Jack Strickland joined the debate.
He said:
"Good morning, I want to make it clear first of all, I’m calling from Bel-Air, California, but I’m originally from Philadelphia, specifically, West Philadelphia.
“But anyway, I was actually discussing this issue with a friend of mine recently, while I was in Philly. It occurred on the basketball court.
“At some point during the conversation, a couple of guys, who were up to no good, essentially started causing trouble in my neighbourhood.
“I got in one little fight, and my mom got scared, and said ‘You’re moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air’.”
As the penny dropped the caller was cut off, but not before he managed to raise a wry grin from host Pedro Echevarria.
It’s not the first time the “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” has pranked a live broadcast.
In 2010 references to the Will Smith show were sneaked onto a Christian TV show, which saw a host read out the plot to the series.
