Asked by Radio Times if we would do reality TV, he said: “The only one I’d consider is ‘Strictly’ because it’s learning a skill.
“I’ve been asked to do it several times, but my schedule wouldn’t allow me.”
However, the presenter - who ended his ITV chat show last year - isn’t keen on being transformed into the show’s joke dancer, like ex contestants John Sargent and Dave Meyers.
“I know they’d make me the silly one with the bow tie, not the one with the shirt undone to the navel. And that’s sad, really,” he said.
“My days of having the shirt undone to the navel are long gone.”
Last week, ‘Coronation Street’ actor Antony Cotton was reported to have been made an offer by ‘Strictly’ bosses.
A source told The Mirror: “It really would be groundbreaking for an active 'Corrie' artist to take part in ‘Strictly’ so it’s a wait and see situation.”
Other stars rumoured for the new series include Richard Madeley, Peter Andre and axed ‘Xtra Factor’ presenter Sarah Jane Crawford.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will return to BBC One in the autumn.
