On Wednesday night, Caitlyn received a standing ovation for her moving speech, when she collected the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the annual ESPYs.

Discussing her life since announcing to the world that she was transgender, she explained: "This transition has been harder on me than anything I could have imagined.

"And that's the case for so many others besides me. For that reason alone, trans people deserve something vital. They deserve your respect.

"And from that respect comes a more compassionate community, a more empathetic society, and a better world for all of us."

Kris has now praised the speech, which moved Caitlyn to tears at the awards ceremony, telling Us Weekly: “I think it was amazing and very brave. I think she looked beautiful.”

She was similarly full of praise when Caitlyn’s already-iconic Vanity Fair cover, shot by esteemed photographer Annie Leibovitz, was published in June.

When asked what she thought of the cover, Kris said she found it “amazing”, adding: “I think that someone following their dream is truly inspirational to a lot of people... you have to do what makes you happy."

When Caitlyn - then still known as Bruce - first came out as transgender in a TV interview in April, Kris voiced her support for her ex-husband, tweeting: “Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero.”

Caitlyn’s children and stepchildren - including the Kardashian sisters - were almost all in attendance to support Caitlyn on Wednesday night, and the inspirational star singled them out in her acceptance speech, praising their acceptance of her gender transition.
