After almost 48 hours of silence, Taylor Swift has taken to Twitter to apologise to Nicki Minaj.

The ‘Bad Blood’ singer started one of the most well-documented Twitter spats in pop culture history on Tuesday night, when she accused Nicki of “pitting women against each other”.

Taylor’s comments were in retaliation to a series of tweets from Nicki, that she wrongly believed to be about her, and the ‘1989’ creator has now admitted to misunderstanding the situation, tweeting:
Within the hour, Nicki graciously accepted Taylor's apology, replying:
She also sent a tweet to Katy Perry, who voiced her support for Nicki after the initial row (more on that later):
Taylor and Nicki’s ‘feud’ has been pored over by music fans and critics, a number of whom accused Taylor of ignoring Nicki’s attempts to comment on the history of racism and white privilege in the music industry.
Tweeting after the MTV VMAs nominations announcement, Nicki wrote:
Assuming that Minaj's tweets were aimed at her, Swift replied to Minaj saying "I've done nothing but love and support you."
Taylor then chose not to respond to Nicki’s direct reply:
Things then stepped up a notch when Katy Perry, who is believed to be the frenemy who inspired Tay’s ‘Bad Blood’, weighed in on the situation with a not-so-subtle subtweet:
