‘Strictly Come Dancing' Star Anthony Ogogo Questions The BBC's Decision To Pair Him With Oti Mabuse: ‘I Thought They'd Spread The Minorities Out'

Anthony Ogogo Questions The BBC Over 'Strictly' Pairing

Anthony Ogogo has spoken out after making his ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ exit at the weekend, revealing that he was surprised to be paired with Oti Mabuse.

The boxer explained that he didn’t think bosses would put him with black dancer Oti, telling The Sun: “I did not think that the BBC would put us together because we’re black or mixed race. I honestly thought they would spread the minorities around.”

Anthony also added that it’s tough to do well in the competition if you don’t have any dance experience, as many of the stars’ showbiz pasts mean they’ve dabbled with strutting their stuff on the dancefloor.

Anthony found himself in the bottom two

Anthony and Oti became the second couple to leave this year’s ‘Strictly’, after losing the dance-off to Ainsley Harriott and Natalie Lowe.

Once the judges gave their verdict, Anthony took the chance to thank Oti, telling presenter Tess Daly: “It's been brilliant. I want to thank Oti she has been amazing.

“I feel sorry for her because she got lumbered with me, I can't dance and I've got a poorly little shoulder. She's done a wonderful job with me so thank you."

While Anthony and Ainsley failed to impress viewers and the judges, things are hotting up at the top of the leaderboard, with Kellie Bright and Jay McGuinness impressing the judges, and resulting in The Wanted singer scoring the first 10 of the series.
