The former One Direction singer was engaged to Perrie for just under two years, before it was confirmed last summer that they had decided to go their separate ways.
Despite remaining tight-lipped about the split until recently, Zayn told Zane Lowe in a new interview on his Beats 1 radio show that one of the songs on the album was written about the break-up.

Speaking about the track ‘It’s You’, he explained: “I just felt like I needed to put myself out there, just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help me get through some shit.
"If I can help someone else at that time, that’s cool.”

Although he hasn’t spoken in detail about the split, last month, Zayn did take the opportunity to dispel rumours that he dumped Perrie by text message, insisting: “I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.
"She knows that, I know that, and the public should know as well. I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.”
In the new interview, he also confirmed the album would be called ‘Mind Of Mine’, and spoke about several more of the “17 or 18” tracks which would be appearing on the release.
Zayn revealed that ‘She’ was a “party tune”, while adding that another album cut, ‘Wrong’ was “written as a rap originally”, claiming it was “about looking in all the wrong places for love”.
‘Mind Of Mine’ is slated for release in “early spring”, preceded by lead single ‘Pillowtalk’, which goes on sale on Friday (29 January).
