Naomi Campbell has spoken out about the shocking issues black models face within the fashion industry.
Her comments come after fellow models Leomie Anderson and Nykhor Paul both posted powerful comments on social media, exposing racism from hairstylists and makeup artists at shows and shoots.
Speaking to Teen Vogue, she revealed: "When I was younger, I encountered this same issue."
"I would be backstage at shows and there would be stylists who didn’t have any experience working with black models," she said.
"It’s disappointing to hear that models of colour are still encountering these same issues all these years later."
Campbell recalls she used to bring her own kit to shoots when she first started modeling,to ensure she got booked for jobs.
"I’d always bring my own products — my own makeup colours, hair products everything — just to be sure that I had everything I needed to achieve a certain look," she said.
To help bring some much-needed change to the fashion industry, Campbell has lent her voice to Balance Diversity - an initiative fighting for equal inclusion.
