'Coronation Street': Simon Gregson To Take Another Break, Just Weeks After Soap Return

Steve McDonald will be temporarily leaving t'cobbles again.

Simon Gregson has been forced to take another break from 'Coronation Street', just weeks after returning to the show.

The actor, who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap, will be taking another short leave of absence to have shoulder surgery, having sustained an injury after falling off a toy scooter.

It comes after he took an extended period of time off after the birth of his third child, Teddy, who he welcomed with wife Emma Gleave in December.

However, it is not thought that his surgery will cause too many problems with filming, with the insider adding: "Because it’s a shorter spell away it won’t give bosses such a big headache rewriting scenes. But it’s still bad luck.”

A spokesperson added to The Mirror that Simon would "hopefully be back within a fortnight."

Simon's character has been off-screen since late last year, with his return set to air later this month.

Having starred on 'Corrie' since 1989, he previously took some time off in 2014, after being struck down with a "mystery illness".
