‘EastEnders’ Star Danniella Westbrook Wants To Return To Albert Square Permanently - And Have Darren Day Play Her Husband

'I think he's a fabulous actor and he'd fit right in.'

Danniella Westbrook has revealed she’d love to make a permanent return to ‘EastEnders’ after she reprises her role as Sam Mitchell later this year.

The 42-year-old actress will be returning to Albert Square to appear in the final scenes of her screen mum Peggy Mitchell, played by Barbara Windsor.

Ross Kemp will also be reprising his role as Grant Mitchell alongside Steve McFadden, who still plays Phil Mitchell in the BBC soap.

"I'm super excited to go back. I'm super excited to have the boys back together, Ross and Steve, and obviously Barbara," she said during an interview on Good Morning Britain. "The four of us back together will be, the original Mitchells back together, will be great."

Danniella, who appeared on ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ earlier this year, also admitted she'd love to have her former ‘CBB’ housemate Darren Day play her other half on the soap.

“I'd like to come back, [but] Ricky's way to old for me!” she laughed. “Who's in there that's young? Even Danny Dyer's too old for me!"

"I'd like Darren Day to come in as my husband. I think he's a fabulous actor and I'd love to see him in EastEnders. He'd fit right in."

Now that we would love to see.

Last month Danniella told the Loose Women that a decision on her returning to the soap on a permanent basis will be down to the soap’s new boss.

“It’s a one-off at the moment, because our boss Dominic [Treadwell-Collins] is leaving,” she explained. “We’ve got a new boss stepping in. So hopefully the new boss will take me up as a full-time character.”
