Ofcom has made its decision over Katie Price’s recent raunchy outburst, which occurred during a frank discussion about sex toys on ‘Loose Women’ earlier this month.
Two weeks ago, Coleen Nolan was forced to physically drag Katie away from the panel of the daytime show, when she disclosed that she owned a “butt-plug with crystals on the end” and made similarly candid remarks about lubricant.
The incident prompted 15 viewers to complain to Ofcom, though the media regulator has now ruled that ‘Loose Women’ was not in breach of its code by broadcasting Katie’s comments, and they will not be taking the matter any further.
In a statement, an Ofcom spokesperson has said: “We considered this light-hearted and generally inexplicit conversation was broadly in keeping with the expectations of the likely audience.
"We assessed a handful of complaints [about] the sexual nature of a discussion led by panellist Katie Price, but won't be taking the matter forward for investigation."
A spokeswoman for the show said at the time, in response to the complaints: “Loose Women is about topical debate and we welcome opinions from viewers on our topics.”
Just a week later, Katie was involved in an incident that sparked further complaints, when her teenage son Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome and is on the autistic spectrum, dropped the C-bomb during a live discussion about the trolling he receives online.
Ofcom are still assessing complaints that were received in response to the strong language, which aired at lunchtime.
