Capital Summertime Ball: From Little Mix To Ariana Grande, All The Best Bits From The Wembley Event

Get comfy, because there's a LOT to get through...

Zayn Malik might not have performed as planned, but that didn’t stop the crowd at the Capital FM Summertime Ball from having a good time.

Thankfully (and obviously), the former One Direction singer wasn’t the only act on the bill, and the stars who did take to the stage at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (11 June) didn’t disappoint.

Here are all the best bits from the day...

1. Little Mix

Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? Little Mix were tasked with opening the show, and true to form, the ladies brought their best vocals, dance moves and optimum levels of sass.

The group took the crowd through a brief, but nonetheless impressive, whistle stop tour of hits, including their latest single ‘Hair’, ‘Wings’ and ballad ‘Secret Love Song’.

2. Louisa Johnson's New Look

Lilac hair? We’re into it. The ‘X Factor’ winner is launching her solo career in an unexpected fashion, teaming up with Clean Bandit to release her first proper, post-talent show single. The only downside is that this means the star performed just the one track, which you can watch in the video above.

3. Nick Jonas

Hot off the release of his latest album ‘Last Year Was Complicated’, the US star jetted into London especially for the event. His brief three song set consisted of ‘Close’, ‘Levels’ and ‘Jealous’.

4. Ariana Grande

Dressed for the British weather in um, a leotard, thigh-high leather boots and a giant rain mac, Ariana began her star turn with old faves ‘Bang, Bang’ and ‘Problem’.

After a brief interlude and chatting to the crowd began, the real fun began, by which we mean she performed the certified pop banger and ‘Dangerous Woman’ album track ‘Greedy’, leaving the record’s title track until last. Can we have a tour announcement now please, Ari? Thanks.

5. Tinie Tempah

Arriving on stage minutes after it was announced that Zayn Malik wasn’t going to performing obviously wasn’t easy. Did some crowd members leave? Yes, yes they did. But let's be honest, those who decided Zayn’s absence meant it was time to hotfoot it to the tube station probably weren’t going to stay and watch the ‘Pass Out’ singer anyway.

And the Capital FM favourite didn’t have to do alone, as he had not one (or two) but three special guests, as collaborators Jess Glynne, Katy B and Zara Larsson all joined him on stage.
