Louise Redknapp has become the latest contestant to join this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ line-up.
The former Eternal singer confirmed rumours she would be appearing on the BBC ballroom competition on Steve Wright’s Radio 2 show on Monday (15 August) afternoon.
Louise, who is married to footballer Jamie Redknapp, said: “We have our Saturday night routine and all sit down to watch. When the show starts it really feels like the build up to Christmas.
“I’m looking forward to learning a new skill – ballroom and dancing with a partner is something I’ve never done before!”
She continued: “I would love to get as far as I can to do everyone proud and stay in long enough so my kids don’t think I’m rubbish.”
Louise rose to fame in the 1990s as a member of girl band Eternal, before quitting in 1995 to embark on a solo career, which saw her release hits such as 'Naked' and '2 Faced'.
She has also leant her talents to TV presenting, co-hosting the likes of 'SM:TV Live', 'Something For The Weekend' and 'The Farmer Wants A Wife'.
'Strictly' bosses may be hoping that viewers forget that she also served as a judge on another dance show, when she sat on the panel of BBC One's 'So You Think You Can Dance?' from 2010 to 2011.
Louise joins ‘Pop Idol’ winner Will Young, former Labour MP Ed Balls, presenter Laura Whitmore, ‘BBC Breakfast’ regular Ore Oduba and former ‘Xtra Factor’ host Melvin Odoom, who have already been confirmed as contestants.
More names will be announced over the coming days.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ returns to BBC One in September.
