‘Strictly Come Dancing’ couple Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice have announced that they have called time on their relationship.
The two met last year when they were partnered together on ‘Strictly’, and revealed that they were an item in the weeks that followed the live final, where they finished as joint runners-up with Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton.
However, the former ‘Coronation Street’ actress revealed on Saturday (27 August) night that she and Giovanni had decided to go their separate ways.
In a post on her Twitter page, she explained: “It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved.
“Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better to be friends and this is one of those times. We both have very busy work schedules for the rest of the year so we are both going to focus on our upcoming work projects and we wish each other well for the future.”
She later posted a string of tweets where she insisted that their relationship had not been “fake”, adding: “I still love him very very much. But things change.”
Giovanni is currently gearing up to appear in the new series of ‘Strictly’, which kicks off on Sunday 3 September, and will be his second on the hit BBC show.
Georgina, meanwhile, is set to star in a West End production of ‘Breakfast At Tiffany’s’ in the lead role of Holly Golightly, a part currently being played by pop singer, and fellow ‘Strictly’ star, Pixie Lott.
