‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Darcey Bussell has spoken about Will Young’s shock exit from the show, admitting she was “horrified” to learn about his departure.
Earlier this week, Will announced that he was stepping down from ‘Strictly’ after three weeks of live shows, citing “personal reasons” for his decision.
Darcey has now admitted she was “sad” to see him go as she thought he’d make this year’s final, telling MailOnline: “Unfortunately being a judge we are not allowed to see the rehearsals or what happened during the week so you don’t know the ins and outs and you only arrive on the day of the live show.
She was also quick to insist that his exit was unrelated to his brief clash with Len Goodman in last weekend’s live show, adding: “Like in anybody’s lives, you have many things that are going on and it is not to do with Len Goodman - just to make that clear.”
Following speculation about the reasons for his decision to leave ‘Strictly’, Will attempted to downplay the furore in a text message sent to Chris Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast show.
He insisted: “Here’s the thing. I’m absolutely dandy, thanks. It’s all very undramatic, really.
“I’ve done my statement and others can say what they want to say. I never read what they say anyway.”
The remaining 12 ‘Strictly’ couples will take to the dancefloor once again in Saturday’s (15 October) live show, kicking off at 6.30pm on BBC One.
