‘EastEnders’ executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has made a bold promise ahead of Peggy Mitchell’s return to Albert Square, teasing that the upcoming exits will be among the soap's most emotional ever.
Tonight (Monday 9 May), viewers will see Barbara Windsor’s character return to Walford, and later this week, emotions will run high when she decides to stop having treatment for cancer.
Later this month, Dame Barbara will then bow out, and Dominic has promised that fans won’t be disappointed.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he says: "She's just so incredible, I really think Barbara gives the performance of her lifetime.
It’s not just Barbara who is bidding goodbye to the Square, as overseeing her episodes was the final task for Dominic, who has now stepped down from his role as executive producer.
He will be succeeded by Sean O’Connor, who currently produces radio soap ‘The Archers’.
