‘Emmerdale’ actor Kelvin Fletcher has responded to reports he’s quitting his role as Andy Sugden, and it seems he might not be leaving after all.
Earlier this week, it was suggested the star would be leaving the Dales after 20 years of playing the character, to pursue a career as a rally driver.
However, Kelvin has now thrown the claims into doubt with an update he shared on Twitter.
“Leaving Emmerdale to become a rally driver? First I’ve heard!” he wrote.
And while he refused to confirm or deny the reports, he did tease some “big surprises” are in store.
“Although I do know one thing; there’s some BIG surprises coming #Emmerdale,” he added.
An insider previously had told The Sun that Kelvin had already filmed his final scenes as Andy, stating: “Kelvin is a soap legend and will be sorely missed by ‘Emmerdale’ and viewers. Bosses have managed to keep him leaving top secret but now the cat is out of the bag.
Kelvin’s character is currently embroiled in a storyline that has seen Chrissie White attempting to frame him for the attempted murder of her father, which has prompted speculation among fans that the character could be falsely imprisoned for the crime.
An ‘Emmerdale’ spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.
