‘Good Morning Britain’ viewers couldn’t help but notice there was a bit of tension between Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan, following the news that Donald Trump had been chosen as the next President Of The United States.
In the run-up to the election, Susanna and Piers hosted the show on location from New York, and once the results were finally announced on Wednesday (9 November) morning, some viewers pointed out that relations between the pair seemed a bit frosty.
Fans of the show were quick to share their sympathy with Susanna, suggesting that Piers wasn’t letting her speak as they debated the election, with many pointing out that she seemed pretty fed up with both her co-host and the news about the results of the election.
This wouldn’t be the first time that things had turned frosty between Susanna and Piers when the subject of Donald Trump came up, though.
Back in May, the two clashed live on air, after Piers attempted to clarify controversial comments made by Trump regarding his attitude towards Muslims.
During an interview with ‘GMB’, Trump had told Piers that he “didn’t care” what London Mayor Sadiq Khan thought of his proposed ban on Muslims travelling to America, before accusing him of giving “rude” and “nasty” statements about him in the press.
Much to Piers’ annoyance, Susanna then pointed out a flaw in Trump’s logic, insisting: “He says he isn’t against any religion, but there’s only one religion he’s targeted with this temporary ban.”
While a host of celebrities were quick to share their commiserations at Wednesday’s result, with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Lily Allen among those voicing their discontent, Piers was one of the few who actually congratulated Trump.
‘Good Morning Britain’ airs every weekday from 6.00am on ITV.
