NASA launched not one but three sounding rockets into the auroras this week in a bid to learn more about the phenomenon.
Now, the agency has released incredible images of the rockets in action, and we reckon theyβre among the most stunning launch photos weβve ever seen.
NASA said in a statement that the mission was a success, but it hasnβt yet released analysis of the data.
Phil Eberspeaker, chief of the Sounding Rocket Program Office, said, βThe ability to successfully launch these three rockets is a testament to the capabilities of the range, science and sounding rocket teams.
βGreat coordination is required to institute the complex countdown required to prepare and launch three rockets in a short period. The team did a fantastic job executing these launches.β
