With the nation still reeling from *that* Prince Andrew interview, there was only one person Ant and Dec could possibly joke about as they opened a new series of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.
The presenting duo were reunited on the first episode in a new series of the ITV reality show on Sunday night, quipping about the Duke Of York’s Newsnight appearance with a reference to sweating.
During his interview, Prince Andrew attempted to defend his reputation following the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal, and denied claims he had underage sex with Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers.
Giuffre has said she recalled the royal sweating as they danced at a club, but he said he had a medical condition at the time which meant he did not sweat.
As a new batch of 10 celebrities prepared to enter the jungle, Ant remarked how they were likely to be “sweating”, which led to Dec quipping: “Presuming they can sweat, not everybody can apparently…”
The Geordie duo also made a number of jibes about contestant Caitlyn Jenner’s rumoured £500,000 salary for appearing on the show.
Dec joked that most people go into the jungle to lose a few pounds, with Ant quipping that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was apparently “going to be gaining 500,000”.
The launch of the latest series of I’m A Celebrity marked Ant’s return to the show after a year away.
He was replaced by Holly Willoughby for the 2018 run after taking time out of the spotlight to work through his personal issues, following his conviction for drink driving last year.
And viewers were delighted to see the boys reunited in the jungle...
