Does this look familiar?
No? What about this...
Still not there? How about now...
You’re now thinking two things - firstly, that’s not Nick Clegg and secondly, oh god please don’t tell me the former Lib Dem leader once spent £8,000 filming a recreation of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’ on a freezing street in Gravesend last March in order to show his party was “fun”.
Sorry to break it to you like this.
According to The Times, after getting into his car at the end of a hard day’s high-fiving, Clegg actually thought to himself: “Why the fuck did I do that?”
Yes Clegg, why?
The video never saw the light of day as the party soon realised it didn’t actually say anything about the party in the run up to the General Election - other than they have utterly zero idea about the concept of appearing “fun”.
As a result the Lib Dems in the know were sworn to secrecy over its existence.
Still, it couldn’t have done that much harm in hindsight as the Lib Dems were utterly trounced, as will forever be etched on the face of Danny Alexander in this picture of coverage from the night.
If you’re still a bit disbelieving and require a video showing Clegg with the cast and crew during filming, here’s a a video showing Clegg with the cast and crew during filming.
And for some eye bleach here’s the original video in it with actual actors instead of politicians.
