Some potentially surprising film news from 40 years ago now, as Carrie Fisher has confirmed that she and Harrison Ford had an affair on the set of ‘Star Wars’.
As Princess Leia and Han Solo, sci-fi fans around the world were rooting for the two to get together at the end of the original trilogy, the final instalment of which concluded in 1983 with ‘Return Of The Jedi’.
However, in her upcoming book, Carrie Fisher reveals that the relationship wasn’t just confined to a galaxy far, far away, as they also hooked up away from the cameras for around three months, back in 1976, when he was still married to his first wife.
She told People magazine: “It was so intense. It was Han and Leia during the week and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”
An extract from her latest book, ‘The Princess Diarist’ - based on her journals at the time she was filming ‘Star Wars’ - also reveals: “I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face - a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow.
The book goes on to reveal that when filming on ‘A New Hope’ wrapped, that also put the brakes on their brief romantic dalliance.
Both Carrie and Harrison reprised their original ‘Star Wars’ roles for the latest offering in the sci-fi saga, ‘The Force Awakens’.
She will be back in the eighth film, currently slated for release in December 2018.
