Tom Hiddleston has addressed rumours that his new relationship with Taylor Swift is actually a showmance, insisting that they’re the real deal.
Reports first claimed that the two were an item when photos of them kissing appeared on the front page of The Sun last month, although since then social media users have been speculating that there may be more to their alleged relationship than meets the eye.
However, while some have gone as far as suggesting their relationship could all be in the name of a new music video, Tom has now set the record straight once and for all.
When asked about Taylor by The Hollywood Reporter, Tom said: “How best to put this? The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy.”
Addressing rumours they’re putting their relationship on for column inches, he said: “That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”
We’re sure that’s just what Tom wanted to discuss on the day it was revealed he’d been nominated for an Emmy...
The two are thought to have begun dating just weeks after Taylor’s split from Calvin Harris, who initially seemed unimpressed that his ex had already started up with someone new.
Although he later insisted everything was “good” between the two of them, he launched a scathing attack on Taylor on Twitter, accusing her of trying to “bury” him “like Katy [Perry]”.
Katy later appeared to throw some serious Twitter shade about the whole debacle, having been involved in a public feud with Taylor since the release of her last album, ‘1989’.
Tom was first quizzed about his relationship with Taylor by paparazzi reporters in Australia, delivering just a few (rather awkward) words about his new girlfriend.
