Donald Trump’s surprise victory in the US presidential election has given hope to a surprising group of people - Jeremy Corbyn supporters.

Polls, including those crunched by The Huffington Post, had largely pointed to Hillary Clinton being elected the 45th President of the United States. But they were wrong.

With polls in the UK showing Corbyn trailing fair behind Theresa May’s Conservative Party - some fans of the Labour leader took heart from Trump’s win.

The next person who tells me 'Corbyn will never win, because the polls say' will get shown my Trump card 😱😂😱 #JC4PM

People mock Jeremy's rallies, but Trump won the election off the back of them. I think we'll see the same with JC. Ignore ALL polls.

Do not believe that Corbyn cannot win the general election. Do not believe the polls. Tonight shows us anything is possible. #ElectionNight

Don't ever let New Labour drones tell you Corbyn can't win because of the polls. Just look at what polls confidently predicted in USA!

If Trump becomes President the Polls can kiss my arse & whoever says Corbyn can't win a General election coz the polls says so, JUST LOOK

— Tariq Jabbar (@tazlufc) November 9, 2016

This just proves that Polls are rubbish. Bring on an election get @jeremycorbyn into number 10 - voice of reason.

Nobody tell me Jeremy Corbyn is unelectable because "the polls say so"

— Mitchell Foyle-York (@mfoyleyork) November 9, 2016

In polls Americans said they didn't think Trump had skills to be president, but said he would bring change...over to you Jeremy Corbyn

When Trump won the Republican primary nomination, he did so against the predictions of many pundits, but in line with months of polling data.

His win Tuesday, by contrast, represents a stunning upset, going against the vast majority of public polling and every major political forecast. Although predictions of Clinton’s margins varied, few doubted she would win.
