The categories the ‘X Factor’ judges will be mentoring this year seem to have been revealed, after filming began on the dreaded Six Chair Challenge.
The contestants made their way to Wembley Arena over the weekend to shoot the next stage of the ITV talent competition, where they discovered which member of the panel they will be mentored by, before competing to win one of the six seats.
Audience members at Wembley were privy to the information, and the results have now been published in the Daily Star.
The paper has claimed Simon Cowell will be mentoring the Girls category, which marks the first time he’s ever been in charge of them.
Of course, he did mentor Leona Lewis to victory in 2006, but back then the Boys and Girls categories were combined as the 16-25s.
Nicole Scherzinger has been granted the Boys, having achieved success when she mentored them in 2012, as she guided eventual winner James Arthur and runner-up Jahmene Douglas into the final.
Rylan Clark-Neal was also in her category, and this series will see him return to present spin-off show ‘The Xtra Factor’ alongside Matt Edmonson.
Meanwhile, Sharon Osbourne will look after the Overs category, having led Sam Bailey to victory when she last appeared on the panel in 2013.
And predictably, Louis Walsh has been handed the Groups again, marking the sixth time in his 12 series on the show he has been in charge of them.
Last year viewers voted for which judge they wanted to see mentor which category, but it seems this has been done away with for the 13th run of the show.
Prior to the Six Chair Challenge, the hopefuls faced an intimate room audition, with successful contestants then proceeding to Bootcamp, where they were put through their paces at Alexandra Palace last week.
‘The X Factor’ returns to ITV this autumn.
