X Factor: Nu-Vibe Eliminated As Contestants Get Audience Vote For The First Time

X Factor: First Act Eliminated By Audience Vote - Did Your Favourite Go Home?

This weekend saw X Factor finally doing what it advertises on the tin – leaving the show's finalists at the mercy of the live audience.

After the audience votes were tallied, it was tousle-haired Frankie and boyband Nu-Vibe who had to sing for the prospect of another supper. Finally it was Nu-Vibe who had to shuffle off, despite their mentor Tulisa earlier pleading for their survival.

Both acts - similarly popular with their very audible teenage fanbases - were visibly nervous performing in the final sing-off, with a few notes understandably going astray.

Jude Kelly's mentoring star continues to rise with all three of her acts - the girls Janet, Misha B and Sophie - quickly through to the next round.

And all three acts in the Overs group - Kitty, Sami and Jonny - got big hugs from their mentor Louis as they were whisked through.

The results mean that boys' group mentor Barlow - who had earlier said "I can't believe I'm saying this" when asked to introduce Frankie for the sing-off - still has three acts in the competition, but the Take That frontman has now had his first taste as a judge of having one of his acts being taken to the wire. His other acts Marcus and Craig went through without similar drama.

Nu-Vibe's departure means there are now only two bands left in the competition - The Risk, and the much-hyped girls' band Rythmics safely through.
