British women are being hit by an 'epidemic of fatigue' caused by sleep deprivation, according to new research.
The study by the Sleep Council found that of the 1,4000 women questioned, nearly one in three arrive late to work because they feel so shattered in the morning. One in six sleep-deprived women confessed to ringing in sick due to tiredness and one in 10 admitted that they had a sneaky nap whilst at work.
A third of women say this lack of sleep is leaving them with washed out skin and under-eye bags for up to four days a week, with one in ten seeing the visible effects of fatigue in the mirror, every day.
However, although the women polled knew that a good night's sleep is the best tonic for feeling and looking more energetic and refreshed, only half managed to squeeze in an early night or lie-in at the weekend.
