Teacher Daniel Redshaw Pestered Pupil With Emails Under Pseudonym 'Bob Smythe'

Protestant School Teacher Pestered Pupil Under Pseudonym Calling Her 'The Fittest Babe At School'

Teacher Daniel Redshaw has been struck off after pestering a pupil with emails under the pseudonym "Bob Smythe".

Redshaw was found to have behaved in an "inappropriate and unprofessional manner" after sending countless emails to the 13-year-girl. The unprofessional conduct took place while he was employed as head of maths at St Guthlac's, a Church of England school in Peterborough.

The accusations against Redshaw, which included sending four emails of "inappropriate content" within the space of a month in October 2008, were upheld by a teaching disciplinary panel.

Redshaw approached and intimidated the teenage pupil, known as "Student A" telling her: "We spent so many hours together yesterday at the open evening, it was nice. We should do it again".

He also told her he had sent her emails under the Smythe name and said he "must try harder" when he found she had not read them.

Using the school computer to find out the girl's details, he plagued her with emails which included phrases such as, "will the hottest, well good looking [Student A] pretty plz let me have her number", and "[Student A] - the fittest (!!!) babe at school".

The general teaching council (GTC) ruled Redshaw had not expressed any regret over his actions and the former teacher had a "deep-seated attitudinal problem".
