Matt Smith has denied he'll be following in the footsteps of his co-star Karen Gillan and leaving Doctor Who.
Karen - who plays Amy Pond - is being written out in a "heartbreaking" storyline during the next series.
But Matt won't be bowing out of his role as The Doctor, telling The Graham Norton Show: "I am very happy to stay.
"I love it and love making the show."
The actor said he was sad that Karen - who will soon be seen in a new BBC drama as model Jean Shrimpton - was going, but added: "There comes a time when a story reaches its conclusion and the essence of the show is that it constantly reinvents itself."
He told Graham, in the BBC One show to be aired on Friday: "I'll miss Karen because she's my best mate. She's mad as a box of cats but she's a firecracker!"
A new companion for The Doctor is being lined up but producers have not given any clues about their identity.
