A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the deaths of Avtar Kolar and his wife Carole at their home in Birmingham, West Midlands Police said.
The news comes a day after the arrest of a 24-year-old man in connection to the murder of the Birmingham couple who were found in their home in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham, by their policeman son on Wednesday morning.
The examination of the bodies revealed that the victims had died from blunt force trauma to the head. Both had been hit several times in a murder the police described as "atrocious".
The man, who was detained at his house in Birmingham on Friday night, has been taken to a police station in the West Midlands for questioning.
A murder investigation was launched after the bodies of the couple, who had been married for 40 years, were found by their son on Wednesday morning just after 8am.
Jason Kolar, a serving officer with West Midlands Police, had visited the address to check on them after family members were unable to make contact.
On Thursday, the son and daughter of a couple murdered at their home have begged for help in finding their parents' killers, saying the light had been "switched out" in their lives and their hearts were "broken forever".
Michelle Kirwan, 39, wept inconsolably on Thursday as she and brother Avtar Kolar, 32, described the heartbreak caused by the death of their parents.
On Thursday, investigators said that the killings could possibly be a revenge attack linked to their son's work with the police force.
