Dancing On Ice: Katarina Witt Apologises To Chemmy Alcott For 'Pretty Big' Insult

An Icy Apology

Dancing On Ice judge Katarina Witt has apologised to professional skier Chemmy Alcott after calling her "a pretty big woman".

Katarina sparked controversy during Sunday night's show after criticising Chemmy for performing lifts saying they shouldn't be part of her routines due to her size.

On the show, the judge said: "Chemmy I am begging you to not do those lifts. I really don't want to see you up there - you are a pretty big woman."

Chemmy appeared shocked by the comments and sources close to the show have since revealed she cried backstage.

After her performance, she tweeted: "Tough to get penalised for trying something difficult and new."

However, German Skating ace Katarina has now apologised for her comments.

"I meant it in a complimentary way, that she is a tall girl. As a skater I was a big girl, I was tall, I was big.

"I must say I am sorry. I think it was really a language thing so sorry, sorry Great Britain."
