We knew Kenneth Branagh had a few arrows in his bow, but his Oscar nomination yesterday as Best Supporting Actor means he's earned a place in the record books, as one of the most diversely celebrated actors in cinema history.
The British actor has been nominated by the Oscars five times in his long acting career... in no less than five different categories.
They are, in chronological order:
1992 - Swan Song - Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film
1989 - Henry V - Nominated for Best Director AND Best Actor
1996 - Hamlet - Nominated for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay)
And finally...
2012 - My Week With Marilyn - Nominated for Best Supporting Actor
This year, he's up against Jonah Hill (Moneyball), Nick Nolte (Warrior), Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), and Christopher Plummer (Beginners)
