Lorraine Kelly Hospitalised After Horse Fall

Lorriane Rushed To Hospital

Lorraine Kelly is recovering in hospital after falling from a horse.

The bubbly TV favourite was training for a charity horse riding event in London when she was thrown from the saddle on Tuesday.

The Scottish star was rushed to St George's Hospital in Tooting by paramedics and she subsequently underwent surgery to treat a deep laceration on her leg.

She will be absent from the sofa on her Lorraine show on ITV for the next few days, and admits the injury could take weeks to heal.

"I'm in hospital - just out of theatre, had a wee op. It will take five weeks to recover."

The fall happened at an equestrian centre in Surrey, where Lorraine was riding alongside former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's wife Sarah in an event to raise funds for charity PiggyBankKids.

Former GMTV newsreader Helen Fospero will fill in for Lorraine while she recovers.

A rep for ITV said: "Lorraine was hasn't broken anything - she's just bruised and shocked. Lorraine is being kept in hospital overnight just as a precaution.

"She's in good spirits. Helen's looking after the show."
