Mario Balotelli has become the latest player to be subjected to racist chanting at Euro 2012, as the Ukraine and Poland tournament continues to be polluted by racial hatred.
The Italian was allegedly targeted by Spanish fans during Italy's 1-1 draw with the reigning European and world champions in Gdansk on Sunday.
Photographer Chris Brunskill captured an image of two La Roja fans who he told the Daily Mirror were ringleaders of the chanting.
"I was sat behind the goal with all the Spanish fans behind me and they were involved in monkey chanting and mockery whenever Balotelli was on the ball," he told the redtop.
"The ringleaders were two fans who were in fancy dress as [Spanish tennis player] Rafael Nadal. But the stewards just seemed to think it was a laugh and they did nothing. They seemed to think it was a giggle."
An estimated 300 attendants supposedly "joined in at times", and Brunskill's claims were corroborated by a photographer from Getty Images.
Already the Dutch squad and the Czech Republic's Theodor Gebre Selassie have suffered racial chanting in the opening three days of the tournament.
Uefa, who have long been criticised for a frivolous stance on racism, attempted to suggest the incident during Holland's open training session on Thursday last week was not racially-motivated.
Had it not been for Oranje captain Mark van Bommel's insistence, it is unlikely they would have acknowledged the chanting was not just an "isolated" incident, but sickeningly audible.
Balotelli, 23, vowed before the tournament he would walk off the field of play and even "kill" someone if they threw a banana at him.
