Cricketer Tom Maynard'a car was pulled over before he was hit by a train, according to the Metropolitan Police.
A spokesperson for the Met confirmed to the Huffington Post UK that a vehicle was "stopped a 4.15am on Monday after it had been seen driven erratically in Arthur Road, SW19".
The male driver of the black Mercedes C250 then decamped on foot.
"Officers were unable to locate the man," said the spokesperson.
"At approx. 5.10am the body of a man fitting the same description was found on tracks near Wimbledon Park station."

The body of Maynard, 23, a rising star of he sport, was spotted by a driver on the District Line on Monday morning, though the precise circumstances of his death remain unclear.
