Yesterday's Picture Of The Day was that lazy beast Larry, the Downing Street cat.
Larry: think you've got it tough? Check out this poor critter:
This little fella - let's call him Rocky, shall we? - got stuck in a grate in downtown Detroit, USA. More precisely, and very conveniently, he got stuck in a grate outside the house of the Department of Public Works director Bill Zimmer. Zimmer and his colleagues managed to swiftly free him from his predicament, however, thanks to some canny use of vegetable oil and soap.
"Raccoons are actually regarded as something of a pest, and we all have to sleep with covers over our chimneys here to stop them getting in the attic," revealed the local Mayor. "I can see why we had to help this little guy, though, and the team were very careful to make sure he was washed off before he was released into the wild."
So there you have it. A happy ending to Raccoongrategate. Yeeha!
